For urban youth, disposable plastic cutlery is really a very useful product. Especially when you are too lazy to do the dishes at home, it is easy and convenient to order it and take it away after eating. For restaurant owners with good business, the use of disposable tableware can save a lot of labor costs, and it is also a good thing. Unfortunately, this also causes serious waste and pollution, especially those disposable plastic cutlery made of plastic.
In order to solve this problem, the Polish company Biotrem has developed one-time and edible green tableware, so now that you have finished eating the cake, you can even eat the plate. This set is made with wheat bran (also known as grain husk), and sources include common wheat, rye, and oats. It is a by-product of the process of grinding grains and is usually used as animal feed, but the food industry uses only a small part of it. In addition, bran is also a headache for the flour (noodle) industry because it takes up a lot of storage space, but the shelf life is relatively short, and it can only be stored for up to 7 days. The emergence of Biotrem has transformed bran into plates and bowls so that they are no longer wasted. Most importantly, they do not add any additional compounds. This technology is based on the unique chemical composition and physical properties of wheat bran. The bran is pressed into shape and baked at high temperature. No other additives are required except for a small amount of water. The good news is that a ton of wheat bran can produce up to 10,000 plates or bowls. Currently, Biotrem's edible tableware includes plates, bowls, knives and forks. Not only can be used to hold hot and cold food, plates and bowls can also be used in ovens and microwave ovens. Under proper storage, the product can be stored for at least 3 years. Even if it is discarded, it can be automatically decomposed within 30 days.
